Housing
Authority Elects Officers
The Oak Park Housing Authority elected its
officers for 2002-2003 at its Annual Meeting
held on September 10. The Commissioners elected
Masaru Takiguchi as Chairman, Daniel Burke as
Vice-Chairman, and Edy Burton as Secretary-Treasurer.
In addition to the elected officers, Carol Blackman
and Jeffrey Taren also serve as Commissioners.
Commissioners of the Housing Authority are nominated
to serve a five-year term by the Village President
and are confirmed by the Village Trustees. Commissioners
serve without financial compensation.
The Oak Park Housing Authority was chartered
in 1946 as an Illinois municipal corporation.
It currently administers various Federal housing
programs that benefit the Village’s low-income
residents. It owns and manages Mills Park Tower,
a high-rise rental development at 1025 Pleasant
Place serving the elderly. It also administers
the Housing Choice Voucher Program in Oak Park,
which serves low-income families, the elderly
and the disabled.
